He Will Never Leave You

Keep your lives free from the love of
money and be content with what you have,
because God has said, "Never will I leave
you; never will I forsake you."
Hebrews 13:5

We all need encouragement.  What better
place to get it than from God Himself?

God says "I will not desert you."

Last week this promise became very real
to me.  I was put into the hospital to
have a pacemaker implanted to regulate
my heart beat.

I had been suffering from shortness of
breath and did not know why this started
so suddenly. Did you know a cold could
cause your heart beat to become slow?
Well I do now.

Praise God for my church family and for
my own family.  I was surrounded by love
and prayers for the three days I was in
the hospital.  I was never alone.

But when they wheeled me into the operating
room, my family and Christian brothers and
sisters could not go with me.

Only God could go with me.  I was secure in
the knowledge that He would never leave me.
Jesus, my Savior was there holding my hand.

There was a peace that passes understanding
that flowed through my body. God kept His
promise.  He was there with me.

The best feeling in the world is to know
that Jesus is with you.  Praise God!

According to my doctors everything went well
and I will be able to do most everything I
did before.

Remember to always put yourself in the
hands of the Great Physician.  When you do that it  is a win-win situation.

Thank you God for everything. Please give
me  opportunities to share your love with
the lost in this world.  I can never repay
you, but I can let more people know
you will never leave them.

In Jesus name,  Amen.

RECEIVE THE WORD OF GOD

In First Thessalonians 2:13 Paul
expresses his thanks to God for the
reception of the word of God when he
preached there.  Today, as then, many
are unwilling to receive Scripture (the
Bible) as the Word of God.  Many receive
it as only the word of men.  In fact,
the first sin recorded in Genesis was
that of calling into question what God
actually said (Genesis 3:1).

But whether one receives the Word of
God and how one receives the Word of God
makes a big difference in one’s personal
life.  The Word of God truly received
changed the lives of the Thessalonians
and others just as it has for ages.

Notice some things Paul makes clear
about receiving the Word of God.  First,
there must be genuine acceptance of it
as the Word of God, not men.  A genuine
believer understands that the Bible is
not just another book.  (See Second
Timothy 3:16 and Hebrews 4:12.)  Genuine
acceptance is accepting as it is without
trying to modify it to make it more
palatable or politically correct.  It
must be accepted as the Word of God:
inspired by the Spirit of God, carrying
with it the authority of God which calls
for our submission to it.

One church was going through some
controversy.  No one could agree on
anything it seemed.  At one business
meeting various factions were even
arguing about the minutes of the last
meeting.  The pastor decided to read a
passage of Scripture.  When he finished,
an older man stood to his feet and said,
“Mr. Chairman, I move that the Bible
stand approved as read!”  The Bible
stands approved as read, without
correction, without change, without
deletion, or without addition.

Notice, second, that a genuine believer
in God’s Word will be activated by it
(v. 13c).  Paul commented on how the
Word of God “effectively works in you
who believe.”  And, in verse 19, he
mentions how their changed lives were
his joy.  Evidence of genuine acceptance
of the Word of God is putting it into
practice!  Paul uses the present tense
here to indicate that once accepted the
Word of God continuously works in and
through the believer’s life.

    There are numerous passages that
indicate the difference putting the Word
of God into practice can make in our
lives.  (See Ephesians 4:25-5:1-4,
22-31; 6:1-2, 5-7; Colossians 3:18-24;
First Timothy 2:8-3:8.)  Paul was not
just thankful for their salvation, but
for the difference God’s Word had made
in their lives.  Being activated by the
Word of God will have an affect upon the
way we live, talk, walk, dress, our
marriages, our jobs, and in our
churches.

In other words, the Word of God at work
within one who genuinely accepts it will
change a life.  It was the Word of God
that changed people like Zacchaeus,
Saul, the woman at the well,
prostitutes, and many others into
honest, reputable, moral people who
loved God and stood for His truth.

Lastly, we note the agony which results
because of the Word of God being
accepted and actively working in one’s
life.  As Paul points out in verses 14
and 16 especially, there were those who
rejected and opposed them.  Jesus even
said in John 16:33 we will have
tribulation.  (See Second Timothy 3:12.)
 And, notice, sometimes rejection may
even come from “your own countrymen” –
the people closest to you.

Like the Thessalonians, we must be
willing to stand firm and without
wavering when opposed or rejected.  None
of us likes rejection, but that may well
be the price one has to pay who
genuinely accepts Scripture as the Word
of God and seeks to live by it
faithfully.  Many have been persecuted
and even suffered a martyr’s death for
genuinely believing and living by the
Word of God.

As one song says, “I have decided, I’m
going to live like a believer.  Turn my
back on the deceiver.  I’m going to live
what I believe.”  Accept the Word of God
as the Word of God, allow God to
activate the Word of God to change your
life, and stand faithfully on the Word
of God when the agony of being rejected
becomes a reality.

"Now the king went to Gibeon to
sacrifice there, for that was the great
high place:  Solomon offered a thousand
burnt offerings on that altar.  At
Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a
dream by night; and God said, "Ask! What
shall I give you?"

And Solomon said:  "You have shown great
mercy to Your servant David my father,
because he walked before You in truth,
in righteousness, and in uprightness of
heart with You; You have continued this
great kindness for him, and You have
given him a son to sit on his throne, as
it is this day.  Now, O LORD my God, You
have made Your servant king instead of
my father David, but I am a little
child; I do not know how to go out or
come in.  And Your servant is in the
midst of Your people whom You have
chosen, a great people, too numerous to
be numbered or counted.  Therefore give
to Your servant an understanding heart
to judge Your people, that I may discern
between good and evil.  For who is able
to judge this great people of Yours?"

The speech pleased the Lord, that
Solomon had asked this thing.  Then God
said to him:  "Because you have asked
this thing, and have not asked long life
for yourself, nor have asked riches for
yourself, nor have asked the life of
your enemies, but have asked for
yourself understanding to discern
justice, behold, I have done according
to your words; see, I have given you a
wise and understanding heart, so that
there has not been anyone like you
before you, nor shall any like you arise
after you.  And I have also given you
what you have not asked:  both riches
and honor, so that there shall not be
anyone like you among the kings all your
days.  So if you walk in My ways, to
keep My statutes and My commandments, as your father David walked, then I will
lengthen your days." -1 Kings 3:4-14
............................

Greetings in Jesus' name,

My wife, Joan, read this passage to me
from her morning devotions as we drove
about.  I was powerfully impressed by
the relevance of the passage to life
today.  Please take a moment to read it
again, slowly and carefully.

Solomon was but twenty years old!  God
offers Solomon anything he wishes.  Now,
I have no doubt that what the average
twenty-year-old of today would press
for, even most of those who profess to
be Christians, is stuff, stuff and more
stuff!

This man was respectful of his father
and appreciated what God had done in
David's life.  God anoints the young man
as King, but Solomon admits his
immaturity, inexperience and lack of
knowledge.

Solomon has the wisdom at a young age to
beg for maturity and understanding, so
that, "I may discern between good and
evil.  For who is able to judge this
great people of Yours?"   Right from the
beginning, Solomon recognizes that he is
but a caretaker of another property.
As king, the people he oversaw did not
belong to him.  Would that all who have
been given positions of responsibility
over others know this truth and abide by
it!

God honors humility and selflessness.
Solomon had not asked for himself a long
life, riches or vengeance on his
enemies, but asked for understanding to
discern justice.  God bestowed Solomon
with great wisdom.  Now, God says:  "I
will give you what you did not ask for.
I have also given you riches and honor
like no other king."

Spiritual Formation

1: Desire for God
I truly believe that every person has a
desire for God set in His heart. I do
not think everyone realizes it.
There are people who try to fill this desire with different things, like drugs, work, or pride. However, I believe that there is one thing that can fill this desire, and that is a relationship with the Creator of the universe. As Christians we can read this and think, “Of course,” however, sometimes we still try to fill the desire of God with other things. I think to fill that desire we have spiritual disciplines
that help us. Through these disciples we can know and grow in our desire of God. Also, in knowing Him we realize the true nature of our desire.

2: Words of Life
The Word is the primary way that God
communicates with us and we must feed on
it. Jesus said that we do not leave on bread
alone but it is by every word that God
has given to us. Constantly the Scripture calls us to meditate on it day and night. We must do it to get to know our father, and I know that I lose that focus even when I read
my bible. God’s Word is powerful and life
changing, it gives life. It is important
for us to study because it is life. It is God talking to us about what Jesus Christ did, and what that means for our lives.

3: True Love
In chapter 13 of Corinthians it talks
about what love is (patient, kind,
etc.). The more and more I think about it I think of how God is the best example of all those descriptions of love. Therefore, when we think about what love is, we must think about Who love is, and God is love. If we want to know true love we have to know God. Any other forms of love are fallen, imperfect images that distort loves true meaning. If you want to truly love someone, love God, and He will show you how to love them.

4: Forgiving Me
I kept thinking about how hard it can be
to forgive yourself. I know that I have
a hard time doing that from time to time. Why
is it so hard to forgive yourself, and
why do I feel burdened like I can’t? I
continued to think and pray through this
question and I got an answer. We are not in authority to forgive ourselves, but must believe that we are forgiven. 2 Cor. 12:9 “And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness " Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.”

5: Colossians 3:1-4

“Do not be so heavenly minded that you
are no earthly good.” In other words we
have not been called to a holy huddle. I have
heard this saying a lot and I started to
unpack it, and then I read this chapter and it came up once again. I understand that we can
be out of touch with this earth and that we need to engage the earth for Christ. However, the more I think about that statement I think we should add something at the end, “Do be heavenly minded.” I believe that those who have eternity set in their hearts are the ones that can change the world. Jesus had eternity set in His heart as He came to do the will of His Father.

6: Why we Serve
Service is an expression of love, it is love that is played out in action, the visible form of love. It is a discipline and a commandment. It is a visual expression of an inward love.
We serve because we want to become
Christ like. Christ said that the greatest among us will serve each other, and then
testified that to us by dieing for us so
that we could be in relationship with him. Service can be something that we can do with one another, and grow in love in that way. We must realize that it is not the service that
makes us better, but it is Christ in us that
compels us to do the service, and then
grows the love in us through serving others. Service can lead to many other Christ-like
attributes, and is something we must be obedient to.

7: Dealing with Sin
We are new creatures, we do not have to
be bound by our sin, but we get to live
in freedom that we can conquer it. I do not
know every time I sin. I have seen myself
become more and more aware of it,
however, I know that there are so many
things that I miss. Sometimes I do not think that I am troubled enough that I sinned. I have to believe the Gospel in my life and change my action. We have confidence in the Word in relation to sin as well. We are no longer its slaves, but we are slaves to
righteousness. We must believe what the Word tells us and enter into the war with sin properly, with the Holy Spirit aiding and interceding with and for us.

8: Benefits of Frugality
Before this semester I have never
thought about what it means to be
frugal, or that it has any importance to me. However, I see the value in frugality. It allows us to be better stewards of the resources and money that we have so that we can give it to others and use it for things that we need, and not things that we want. Frugality allows us to not be materialistic and keep in align what we need and what we want.

9:In His Presence
As I put these two together I realize that as long as I have His word, and live in His
creation, and have His Spirit, then I am
never out of His presence. I also have
thought about how He may to appear to have
withdrawn form us. I think in those times it is when our faith is strengthened the most. It
is not that we grow apart from God, but
that in those times we persevere and persist in His Word, and He uses it to increase our
faithfulness. He uses our weak times to build us up. I think that if we constantly “felt like
we were in His presence,” that we could grow
complacent.

10: Is Time Ours?
The more that I think about time I think
that it is arrogant for us to assume any
claim on our time. How can we, created in time by one who is transcendent of time, claim to own time? I realize that some of us are not claiming to own it but we treat it as an
offense if it is misused. We feel as though it is a right, when in fact, it is graciously
given to us as a privilege by our Creator. Who are we to assume that our time is being taken up, when in fact, it is something that has been given to us. When we realize that we are not the author of our time we are able to submit to whose time it is, and know who we are according to

11: Value In Community
A community of believers is a valuable
thing for us to have. We are made to be
in community. God gave man a companion. It
is not good for us to be alone. In community
we are able to be sharpened and disciple by one another. We can learn from those who
are older than us and live the Christian
life together. We can bear one another’s
burdens fulfilling the law of Christ. Being in
community enhances our solitude times
because we are able to pray and be in community with Christ in those times.

12: What am I called to do?
As we get older and think about things
in life, a major thing that we think about is what we are going to do. As a Christina we
think about what we are called to do. We
are called to do what we are made to do. God knits us together in our mother’s womb. He
wired us to do the work that he has given us.
Jesus came to glorify the father in doing what He was called to do. We are not called to do
anything more than what we are called to
do, and not called to do anything less. Do not sell yourself short that you cannot do
something, God equips the called and has knit you to do things that you may not think you can do. That is why he called you to do it, because He wants you to rely on Him.

13: Fasting
I have never given to much thought about
fasting before, mainly because I did not
see or understand its importance. However,
what I understand now it is about denying
yourself. It is a discipline that develops characteristics in you that you do not realize are developing. It allows you to be able to
submit, to pray, and to resign to the fact that life is not about you, it is about Him.

14: Emotions?
Emotions are not bad, they tell us how we feel. However, we should not be controlled by
them. Emotions can be subjective, and
compulsive. Acting on emotion can cause
us to act on something that is not real, or
misconceived. Emotions are temporal, and
when we are controlled by them we lack self-control, however, when we learn the proper way to act on them we can act according to the situation and understand things in our lives the in the heat of the moment would not take the time to understand.

15: Peace from God
I have thought about what peace is a lot
this semester. A major thing I think
about is peace compared to happiness. Happiness, as I define it, is an emotion, where as peace is a state. I will take peace over happiness any day. Having the peace of
God allows you not to be a victim of your circumstance, because you know that God is God, and He will never leave you nor forsake you. You are free from the a fore mentioned emotions, and you have, for lack of a better word, peace in every situation. When God
grants us peace, we gives us comfort and shows us a taste of who He is and we can find comfort in Him.

March is here and with it, the “winds of
change” will soon arrive.  Now is a good
time for each of us to evaluate each of
our lives and determine if there are any
areas in our lives also needing change.
It is so easy to get caught up in the
affairs of this world, that we sometimes
forget and/or stray from what should be
our foundation…God.  If you are a
husband with problems at home, a parent
of a wayward child, or in the midst of a
multitude of other personal challenges,
are you trying to tackle them on your
own and leave God out, or do you rely
solely on Him?

God gives us such a simple solution to
our problems and worries. Do we put our
abilities and ourselves first, or do we
put God first?  Do you give God your
“first-fruits” whether it is your time
or tithes, or do you just give God the
leftovers?  Do you read your bible daily
or hear a few verses on Sunday morning?
Do you have nightly devotions with your
family?  All of these point to putting
God first.   When things sometimes seem
to get worse in our lives with increased
problems and anxieties, do we turn to
God first, or do we automatically try
and solve the problem ourselves and in
the process, move farther away from God
and His grace.  Does our pride in
“making it right ourselves” continually
distance us from God?

Before any particular area in our life
can ultimately improve, our walk with
God must come first.  There is an
important verse to keep in the forefront
of our minds.  ”In all thy ways
acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy
paths” (Proverbs 3:6-KJV)
.
You’ll find once you make a commitment to put God first, all other areas of your life will
gradually improve.  Challenges will always arise throughout life, but your perspective will be greatly changed when you are in close fellowship with a loving Savior .  If you have not spoken to God in a while, why not start right now? He’s waiting to here from you.
Just think, of all the places in the universe God chose to live,
He chose to live in your heart!!

Resurrected to New Life

One of the things I like most about spring time is the new life. You can see it in the trees with the green leaves sprouting out. And the flowers blooming...with a dazzling of colors and the sun warming your skin. It's as if the death pall of winter has been shaken off and all of creation is being  resurrected to new life.

That's as it should be. Every year in springtime we
celebrate Christ's resurrection. What does this new resurrected life mean for you and me? Plenty! Dug deep down into the soil of God's Word is the truth that can revitalize your soul. Paul says in Romans 6:4 that, " We have been buried
with Him through baptism into death, in order that as Christ was raised from the
dead ... so we too might walk in newness
of life."
Did you catch that? "Newness of life." That's resurrection. That's
springtime in your soul! Through faith in Jesus' death and resurrection, we can experience new life from the dead. I pray that for you. God wants every person to experience a new life from Jesus that transforms and makes all things new. No longer do you have to be stuck in a spiritual death existence. No more does life have to be perpetual winter; cold, dark and drab. God's got springtime for you. And it's available through faith in His son. It's not the church, or religion, or ritual. It's a Person! Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies," (John 11:25). And then He asked
this personal question, "Do you believe this?" (John 11:26b) That's the question
He asks of each of us.  "Do you believe I am able to resurrect your life? That I can bring new life to your soul?" If you answer "yes" and you accept Him, you will have springtime of the heart that will never end!
Do you believe? I hope so!

Have a blessed spring,

Pastor Steve Weaver

Making The Grade

For the past 23 years my wife has been
a teacher in the North Carolina Public
School System.  During that time I have
also seen my two daughters, now 22 and
18-years-old respectively, graduate from
our public schools. Over the years I
have watched my wife and my daughters
work diligently to make the grade. Both
of our girls were outstanding students.
(Thankfully they got their commitment to
their education from their mother.) The
reason they were outstanding students
was because they chose to put forth the
effort and took responsibility and
worked at their studies. Now both of our
children had numerous teachers over the
years who contributed to their success,
but ultimately it was their commitment
to achieving the high standards they set
for themselves that made it possible for
them to succeed in the classroom.

Although I have never been a public
school teacher myself, I have seen
firsthand the late nights of grading
homework papers and quizzes. The long
hours of working with kids after school
and speaking with parents on the
telephone discussing their child’s
performance outside the classroom. In
addition to that I have seen both of my
children up studying late at night after
coming home from an out-of-town tennis
match or swim meet. While the work was
not easy, both my wife and my daughters
put forth the effort to accomplish the
task at hand, they did that because they
made the commitment and took
accountability for the results of their
performance.

In American education today, instead of
taking accountability for results,
students and parents are looking for
someone to blame for their own failures.
And as “passing the buck” has become
politically correct, our federal, state
and local school administrations have
chosen to measure teacher performance by
the test scores of what are in most
cases unmotivated students raised by
disjoined parents in an attempt to
rationalize students who are not making
the grade. As a result, America
continues to move farther away from our
founding principles of personal
responsibility as our liberal leadership
points the finger at our professional
educators, trying to deflect attention
from our failed social programs that
have paid children to have children,
which in large part has contributing to
the escalating discipline problems in
the classroom, which take the teacher’s
focus off of their charge, which is to
teach.

This past year, I had the privilege to
give the commencement address at my
daughter’s high school graduation. What
made that moment all the more special
was that my youngest daughter was also
on stage as the class valedictorian. As
I sat there on stage that day, I looked
out among the graduating students, many
of whom I had come to know over the
years while Mary Katherine attended
public school. There were members of
that graduating class who excelled in
the classroom, on the athletic fields,
in local and state competitions in math
and science, while others contributed to
blood drives and volunteered in
community and civic programs. These kids
had made the decision that it was worth
the effort to do what was necessary to
make the grade.

    Our nation’s educational system will
never be adequately measured by test
scores, nor will state and federal
competency exams tell the story of the
professional educator’s commitment to
the students whose lives they endeavor
to positively influence. Our educational
system can only be evaluated by the
quality of students at the highest level
of success. Because those are the
students that chose to take full
advantage of the educational
opportunities available to every child
in our public schools. And for those
students and their parents, who chose
not to take advantage of the
opportunities that were available to
them, well, they have no one to blame
but themselves for not making the grade.

We’re all connected, aren’t we?

Have you ever heard of
the Butterfly Effect?

What I’m talking about is the chaos theory about predictability that a
scientist named Lorenz came up with, and that famous question, “Does a butterfly flapping its wings in Brazil result in a tornado in Texas?”  The thought here is that the butterfly’s wing flapping starts a wind current that grows and grows until it reaches
tornado- proportions
in Texas.

Now I’m not scientist or even the son of a scientist, so I don’t know how true the butterfly effect is in Brazil or Texas.  But I do know people and what I do today does effect you…and
what you do does effect me and the people around you.

I’ve helped send people to Brazil to help house and feed
Brazilians and  when
my friends returned home, they were different—more concerned about basic human needs.  And because
they were different, the rest of us changed.

So, as you make a positive
life, not just a living, in a negative world today, remember—the
consequences of your choices have a far-reaching
effect…like a butterfly.

Sinner's Prayer

A simple prayer of faith is all you need to pray for Jesus to save you.

If in your heart you believe by faith
that Christ died for your sins on the cross, and that He arose, and He is a living Savior today, then that faith can save you.

Here is the prayer you must mean in your heart:

"Dear Jesus I need you to save me.
Please forgive me of my sins.
 Come  into my heart.  Amen

This is what happens when you pray that prayer and mean it.

1. Eternal life is yours.

2. Your sins are forgiven.

3.  Personal relationship
      with Jesus forever

4.  He will never leave you.

Why not ask Jesus to save
you today?

It’s Spring Again!

The howling of the wind,
Showers of rain coming down.
Days are getting longer,
Sunshine warming the ground.

Grass is turning greener,
Trees are full of blooms.
Flowers showing their pretty little faces,
Air smelling like sweet perfume.

Birds working so very hard,
Making their perfect little nests,
While bees fly around so busily,
Giving every pretty bloom their own little test.

Sunshine making the air feel so warm,
Yet the wind can making the next day cool.
Children so excited to be playing outside,
Knowing very soon they’ll be out of school.

How blessed we are each and every day,
To experience living in such a beautiful place.
It’s Spring again, and without a wonder or doubt,
It’s because of God’s love and amazing grace.

Scripture of the Month

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise.
Proverbs 11:30

Leading a soul to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ
is the greatest thrill and the greatest endeavor for a child of God.

Are you a wise person who is winning souls to Christ?

What Is The
“ONE THING”
We Must Do To
Inherit Eternal Life?

In this day and age; I believe that the message of Salvation is being watered down; and not hitting the nail of
“Inherit Eternal Life.”

We have too many professing Christians
out there who are going to have a rude
awakening when they stand before the Lord on Judgment Day.  They are talking
the talk but, they are not walking the walk.  They have not let God into their
heart. Without  God in your heart you are powerless to change in any way.
Only God can change a ” dead heart into a living heart;” a “heart of stone into
a heart of flesh;” and a “rebel into a worshiper.”
Being a “good person” and doing “good works” does not get you into heaven.

Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace you have
been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,  not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Giving and tithing is a wonderful
thing…It will bring us many benefits and
blessings. (This is one of God’s Commands)…It will not get you into heaven.

Malachi 3:10
Bring the whole
tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see
if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing
that there will not be room enough to store it.

There is much misconception about the wealthy.  Many believe that it is easier
for the wealthy to enter into heaven.  On the contrary…It is almost impossible. Being wealthy isn’t the key here…It is the attitude of your heart.   Matthew 19:24… Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a
needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” Now I want to talk about the most widely used; yet confusing avenue of
salvation…Repeating a prayer.  I know I am going to get a lot of controversy
over this; but please hear me out. Saying the Prayer of Salvation is only the starting point. Romans 10:9   If you declare with your
mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

This is a very powerful word…However…Why
are so many Christians still stumbling in the dark, not producing much fruit
and seeing change?  It is because they have skipped over the the second part
(most important).  As I stated earlier: Without  God in your heart you are
powerless to change in any way.

SO!
HOW DO WE INHERIT ETERNAL LIFE?”

Recognizing that you are a sinner and
that you need the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior is your first step.
One Thing… That will guarantee you Eternal Life is: (drum role please)
KNOWING JESUS!!
You must…Abide in Him… Have a “one on one”, personal, daily relationship with Him, through His Word, Worship and Prayer.  Your heart must be receptive;
fixed; steadfast and hungry for God.

When you stand before Him on Judgment Day; Don’t think you can fool Him. He will know whether or not You Know Him.

Galatians 6:7
Do not be deceived:
God
cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he
sows. If you do not truly Know Him…This is
what He will say to you:
Matthew 7:23  Then I will tell them plainly, “I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!” You need to search your soul and ask
your self this question?

WHAT IS THE LORD GOING TO SAY TO ME?

AM I GOING TO
HEAVEN OR HELL!

The Bird Cage

There once was a man named George
Thomas, preacher in a small New England town. One Easter Sunday morning he came
to the Church carrying a rusty, bent, old bird cage, and set it by the pulpit.
Eyebrows were raised and, as if in response, Preacher Thomas began to
speak....

"I was walking through town yesterday when I saw a young boy coming toward me swinging this bird cage. On the bottom of the cage were three little wild
birds, shivering with cold and fright.

I stopped the lad and asked, "What do you have there, son?"

"Just some old birds," came the reply.

"What are you going to do with them?" I asked.

"Take 'em home and have fun with 'em," he answered. "I'm gonna tease 'em and pull out their feathers to make 'em fight. I'm gonna have a real good time."

"But you'll get tired of those birds sooner or later. What will you do then?"

"Oh, I got some cats," said the little boy. "They like birds. I'll take 'em to
them."

The preacher was silent for a moment. "How much do you want for those birds,
son?"

"Huh?? !!! Why, you don't want them birds, mister.
They're just plain old field birds. They don't sing. They ain't even pretty!"

"How much?" the preacher asked again.
The boy sized up the preacher as if he were crazy and said, "$10?"

The preacher reached in his pocket and took out a ten dollar bill. He placed it
in the boy's hand. In a flash, the boy was gone. The preacher picked up the
cage and gently carried it to the end of the alley where there was a tree and a
grassy spot. Setting the cage down, he opened the door, and by softly tapping
the bars persuaded the birds out, setting them free. Well, that explained the empty bird cage on the pulpit, and then the preacher began to tell this
story:

One day Satan and Jesus were having a conversation. Satan had just come from
the Garden of Eden, and he was gloating and boasting. "Yes, sir, I just caught a
world full of people down there. Set me a trap, used bait I knew they couldn't
resist. Got 'em all!"

"What are you going to do with them?" Jesus asked.

Satan replied, "Oh, I'm gonna have fun! I'm gonna teach them how to marry and divorce each other, how to hate and abuse each other, how to drink and smoke and curse. I'm gonna teach them how to invent guns and bombs and kill each other. I'm really gonna have fun!"

"And what will you do when you are done with them?"

Jesus asked. "Oh, I'll kill 'em," Satan glared proudly.

"How much do you want for them?" Jesus asked.

"Oh, you don't want those people. They ain't no good. Why, you'll take them and
they'll just hate you. They'll spit on you, curse you and kill you. You don't want those people!!"

"How much?
He asked again.

Satan looked at Jesus and sneered, "All your blood, tears and your life."

Jesus said, "DONE!"
Then He paid the
price.

The preacher picked up the cage and walked from the pulpit. Very effective sermon, don't you think?
...

I thank God everyday for my blessed life. I'm not rich, don't live in a mansion and don't have the nicest of
material things, but, I'm healthy, have, a roof over my head, clothes on my
back, food on my table, a family that loves me and lifelong friends to get me
through. I'd say I have a lot to be thankful for.

Lord Teach Us
To Pray According
To Your WORD

Luke 11:1
And it came to pass, that, as
he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto
him, Lord, teach us to
pray, as John also taught
his disciples.

1 Chronicles 16:11 Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.

Reminders from last week.

When life’s problems fall on us like a bolt of lightening, we can do one or two things.

First we can have a pity party that leads to depression and sometimes
destruction.

Second we can take our burdens to the
Lord in prayer and leave them
there.

When we fall on our knees in prayer we must go to God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. If you
direct your prayer any where else it is going to roll out of your mouth and fall into the dry dust of the
earth.

The best time to prayer is when your heart is so full of joy until all you can do is praise the Lord. When your
heart is full of joy, your needs and request have already been met.

Mary Conceived Jesus Christ when according to
Luke 1:35.

Luke 1:35

35. And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the
Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called
the Son of God.

In verse 38 Mary responds to the Angel of the Lord.

Luke 1:38

38. And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel
departed from her.

Then and there Mary Conceived Jesus without sin. We need to understand something right here. The
Ruach Yahweh, The breath
of God, the Holy Ghost and the power of the highest are the same manifestations of God. Here it is. All it took for Mary to conceive Jesus
Christ was a little puff of God’s powerful breath to blow across her life. In that moment in less than the
twinkling of an eye Jesus was conceived.

Then Mary visited Elizabeth. Elizabeth spoke to Mary in Luke 1:42-45.

Luke 1:42-45
42. And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

43. And whence is this to me, that the
mother of my Lord should come to me?

44. For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy
salutation sounded in mine ears,
the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

45. And blessed is she that believed: for
there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from
the Lord.

Then between verses 45 and 46 something
happens. Remember Mary
said be it unto me according to thy word. Between verses 45 and 46 Mary realizes her request has been granted and she is going to be the mother of the Messiah. Mary breaks out in magnificent praise. Her heart explodes with splendid and the grandest
praise. This is her time to praise the Lord. Her needs and the world’s needs are going to be met. Here is
the magnificent of Mary.

Luke 1:46-55

46. And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,

47. And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my

Saviour.

48. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold,
from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

49. For he that is
mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.

50. And his mercy is on them that fear
him from generation to generation.

51. He hath shewed strength with his arm;

he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

52. He hath put down the mighty from
their seats, and exalted them of low degree.
53 He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.

54. He hath holpen his servant Israel, in
remembrance of his mercy;

55. As he spake to our fathers, to
Abraham, and to his seed for ever.

Now beloved listen you actually pray without ceasing but the best of
prayer time is when you have nothing left to do but praise God.

The heart cry of every Christian should be Lord teach me to pray according to thy WORD?

What do you do when you pray? James Findley wrote, “Go to prayer seeking not prayer but God!”

1 Chronicles 16:11
Seek the LORD and his

strength, seek his face
continually.

This verse gives us three things to do when we pray.

I.
Seek the LORD!
The word seek means to tread after until you arrive at your goal.
Seek means to follow the path of faith until you are in the presence of the Lord.
When you pray seek the Lord that hears and answers prayer. There are
millions of people seeking something beside the Lord to hear and answer their prayers and their prayers are absolute failures.

II.
Seek is nearly the same as the first seek. It essentially means do not stop until you reach your destination.
The end result of prayer is to seek the strength of the Lord for our lives. Strength means for us to seek His
security. The only security that is going to count in this world and the next is the security of the Lord. He
keeps His own. Strength means to seek His Majesty.
Praise God He is Lord of Lords and King of Kings. You see beloved when you get right down to the
foundation of all there is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are Lords of Lords and Kings of
Kings. The truth is this. They are one and the same.
Strength means to seek divine boldness, might, power and strength.
When we pray, let us pray knowing the Lord has the boldness, might, power, strength to get the job done and our prayers answered.

III.
Seek here is a much broader term that
the other two seeks.
Seek means for us to search for his face until we are in his presence. Seek means to strife after his face until we find it. Seek means to ask to come before his face.
Seek means to beg for the pleasure of coming before his face. Seek means to beseech the Lord for the
pleasure of coming into his
presence. Seek means to utterly desire to come
into the presence of the Lord. Utterly means to desire more than anything else in the world, to come

When you pray seek his strength.

When we pray let us all seek his face continually.
Seek means to enquire for the presence of the Lord.
Seek means to get into the presence of the Lord.
Seek means to make an inquisition to arrive in the presence of the Lord.
An inquisition is a very serious and systematic search for the desired
goal. Beloved when you seek the presence of
the Lord you do not plat games and you do not make a half hearted effort to come into his presence in
prayer. The attorney advertisement gives
us the point. “ Call James Scott Ferrin and tell them you mean business.”
Beloved when you seek the
Lord in prayer, the word seek tells us to mean business and be serious
about it.

In prayer we are to seek the Lord’s face and His countenance. His face is
his divine and holy
presence. His face
is his holiness. It is his otherness.
His face is his sacredness. But there is more. The text means to seek the Lord himself in an honorable manner with every sin confessed and forgiven. The text means come into the
sight of the Lord with no hidden agenda, cause or effect. The text means
come to the very front of the Lord where he beholds the condition of your heart.

Conclusion:
By now you know I preach doctrine because I am trying to teach you what the Bible says. So what I say does not amount to very much but what the bible says amounts to it all.
Do you know what the Bible says about Jesus Christ, in one short phrase?

I AM THE ALPHA
AND THE
OMEGA.
He is the beginning
and the end.

When you are on his team, the rest of the world does not make much difference.

If I were you and just like I am right now I cannot tell you all I have saqid in this message. So let me help
you understand what I Chronicles 16:11 has to say in one sentence. When
you come to the Lord in prayer come in pure holiness. Beloved are you
listening? Praying people cannot bring sin into the presence of the Lord!

The BOOK of prayer has a message for us.

1 Peter 1:13-16

13. Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought
unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

14. As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

15. But as he which hath called you is
holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

16. Because it is written,
Be ye holy;
for I am holy.

O my dearly beloved when you live your life and when you come before the Lord in prayer, do so in pure
holiness.

1 Chronicles 16:11 Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.

Invitation:

Salvation will grant you holiness. Jesus will grant you your salvation and make you holy at the same time. If you are here today and you know you have never received salvation by
grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

Today, right now is the day of your salvation. If you want to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and savior of your
heart, you come forward right now and I will Lead you to receive Him as your personal Lord and Savior.

Alter prayer. Lord help me to pray and seek your face according to I Chronicles 16:11.

1 Chronicles 16:11
Seek the LORD and his

strength, seek his face
continually.
