Simple Faith

"Therefore, since we have been justified
through faith, we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ,"
Romans 5:1

As Christians, we are justified
by faith. The New Testament teaches
this very clearly.

Now lets put this where we are
in real life. Can anyone be saved?
Faith, simple trust, is that all a
person needs.  Why can't man accept
the no-strings approach to salvation?

Remember Rahab, a prostitute,
who lived in Jericho?

She is the woman who hid the
Israelite spys in her home. Then
sent the king's men on a wild
 goose chase down along
the Jordan River.

Why did she do that?

"Before the spies lay down for
the night, she went up on the roof
and said to them, “I know that the
LORD has given you this land
and that a great fear of you has
fallen on us, so that all who live
in this country are melting in fear
because of you.  We have heard how
the LORD dried up the water of the
Red Sea for you when you came
out of Egypt,  and what you did to
Sihon and Og, the two kings of the
Amorites east of the Jordan,
whom you completely destroyed.
When we heard of it, our hearts
melted in fear and everyone’s courage
failed because of you, for the LORD
your God is God in heaven above
and on the earth below.

“Now then, please swear to me by
the LORD that you will show kindness
to my family, because I have shown
kindness to you. Give me a sure sign
that you will spare the lives of my
father and mother, my brothers and
sisters, and all who belong to them
and that you will save us from death.”
Joshua 2:8-13

She believed what God had done
for the Isrealites. This was not a
normal sinners prayer.  There was no
confession of sin.  All that was said was
a simple statement of belief and
a simple request for help.

Think about it.
When you ask for Jesus to save
you, isn't that exactly what you did?
You stated that you believed in what
He did at Calvary and requested
His salvation.

Rahab began her walk of
faith with the living God.

She is in the "Hall of Faith" in Hebrews.

"By faith the prostitute Rahab,
because she welcomed the spies,
was not killed with those who were disobedient." Hebrews 11:31

Also James acknowledges Rahab.

"In the same way, was not even
Rahab the prostitute considered
righteous for what she did when
she gave lodging to the spies and
sent them off in a different
direction?"  James 2:25

If Rahab can be saved then all
can be saved. Salvation
is offered to all freely.

"Everyone who calls on the name
of the Lord will be saved.”
Romans 10:13

It is a great God that takes simple
faith and saves all who come to Him.

Do not try to save yourself.
God's standard of holiness is not
possible for man to achieve.

Only God can do it.

This simple faith makes God's
grace "Amazing" and the gospel
of salvation "The Good News".

God bless,

 KNOW WHAT’S IN YOUR ACCOUNT?

In Ephesians 1:15-23, Paul offers a
prayer for believers to know what’s in
their account. It’s possible that many
believers do not comprehend the great
wealth they have in Christ. As a result,
they spend a lot of time and effort
looking for blessings already available
to them. It is said that newspaper
publisher, William Randolph Hearst, in-
vested a fortune in collecting art
treasures from around the world. One day
he found a description of a valuable
piece that he wanted. After months of
searching around the world, his agents
found the treasure in Hearst’s own
warehouse. He already owned it, but did
not know he had it. He didn’t know what
was in his account and spent time and
money searching for treasure he already
possessed. Paul prays that believers
will be spared frantically searching for
what they already have. Some seem to
think they need “more of Jesus” implying
that when they trusted Christ he held
something back. It suggests that “if we
live good enough, etc.” we then can get
more. Let us not forget that “all the
promises of God in (Christ) are Yes, and
in (Christ) Amen, to the glory of God
through us” (2 Corinthians 1:20). After
giving thanks for the faith and love of
believers, Paul make it clear that our
problem is not that Christ held anything
back or that we lack blessings. Our
problem is lack of understanding or
enlightenment. We don’t need to seek
more spiritual resources, but so long as
we attempt to see and understand
spiritual truths with the natural mind
(intelligence alone), we will never
comprehend what’s in our account. First
Corinthians 2:9-12 remind us that “the
natural man does not receive the things
of the Spirit of God” (v. 14).
Understanding based on the natural mind
leads to insecurity, lack of peace and
joy, doubt, etc. Also, it results in
making decisions and taking actions
based on “what feels right” rather than
in what God declares to be right!
Certainly, this is one of the major
problems of our society today! Knowing
what’s in your account can eliminate
that problem. Paul reminds believers
that we have an understanding of God’s
eternal plan. Throughout Ephesians 1
Paul reviews for us God’s plan in
choosing/saving us that we “should be to
the praise of His glory” (v. 12). He
reminds us that we have been “sealed” by
the Holy Spirit, who is “the guarantee”
that those who believe will eternally be
“to the praise of His glory” (v. 14).
What’s in the believer’s account?
Eternal security! Also, Paul wants us to
know that we have “the exceeding
greatness of (God’s) power toward us”
(v. 19). Paul does not pray, and neither
do we need to pray, for power or more
power. Paul prayed that believers be
given a divine awareness of the power we
have in our account – His power! And the
greatest manifestation of that power is the
resurrection of Jesus Christ from the
dead. Chapters 1-3 of Ephesians deal
with doctrine, but chapters 4-6 deal
with practical application. Paul’s point
is that we already have the power
available to live the life of Christ and
engage in spiritual warfare to defeat
the attacks and influence of Satan. It
is impossible in our own strength or
power. But, praise the Lord, we have
that power available in our account!
Lastly, Paul reminds us of the One who
lives within the believer. Let us not
forget that he is “above all”. When
Timothy was discouraged, Paul wrote
words of encouragement to him saying,
“Remember.” In Second Timothy 2:8-10,
Paul says remember the greatness of the
Person who lives within you. D. Martin
Lloyd-Jones tells the story of Philip
Henry, the father of Matthew Henry the
commentator. He and a young lady had
fallen in love with each other. She
belonged to a “higher” level of society
than he did. She had become a Christian
and understood things differently from
her parents. Her parents saw their
differences in social status as an
obstacle to the marriage. They said,
“This man Philip Henry, where has he
come from?” The future Mrs. Henry gave
this reply, “I do not know where he has
come from, but I know where he is
going.” Focus on who Jesus is and what
we shall be. It’s all in the account of
every true believer.

(NKJV)

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ,

The suffering of the passion is behind
us, as is the crucifixion, burial and
resurrection.  In the context in which
we celebrate it, the Ascension has
passed as well.

The final condition of the Disciples
finds them in the temple rejoicing
--praising and blessing God.

Last month I shared the story of a young
lady who was in our program several
years ago.  She is suffering from a
life-threatening infection that was
contracted, in a hospital, while having
minor surgery.  It was written from an
anguished mother.  It was sort of
everything short of the Ascension, as
far as a human can endure.  In light of
my article, the mom corresponded again:

Emilie and I were on our way to see a
specialist a few days ago and had in our
hands a bundle of medical records from
various physicians she has seen. One
common denominator in all of the
narrations from the many doctors was the
first line which states something like
this, "Emilie, a 21 year old female with
a history of severe depression, suicide
attempts and cutting, presented in my
office with... Emilie said, "I refuse to
accept those words as a description of
who I am. That is who I WAS, but I have
been made new and whole and I am no
longer that person...I am restored
and healed!"

As I drove the car and she spoke, I
could feel the tears well up in my heart
because she was sitting next to me with
dark glasses (because of severe
photo phobia) and her walker tucked under
the dashboard (because she is unable to
take even one step without the walker).
I don't know how to explain what I
felt...she sees herself as healed so
much that even with the physical
ailments that are consuming her body all
day and night, she has been made SO new
in Christ that these things seem almost
like a slight inconvenience instead of a
major disability. My daughter has taught
me to have eyes to see even through the
overwhelming tears. "Because" she said,
"sometimes you have to become blind
first before you can see."

Thank you for nourishing my daughter
with the Word SO MUCH that when the
physical well ran dry, she still was not
thirsting for anything else!

This girl has seen the risen, ascended
Lord in her own heart.  Emilie has
discovered that she "is a soul," rather
than "having a soul."  I hear her soul
speaking truth by faith.  These are the
circumstances in life that can, and do,
give rise to doubts and even bitterness.
She has grasped on to precious promises
that offer her frail body a faith to
fuse with her professional health
program.  Recent secular studies insist
that trusting in someone greater than
ourselves and believing in the
possibility of "divine healing" ups our
chances of survival.

Even those whose objects of faith are
bogus, still benefit from the positive
mindset--temporarily.  But Emilie's hope
has ascended with Christ and impacts her
eternal well-being, even as she remains
a powerful testimony here.

It is a privilege to be a part of a
community that ministers to the broken
and hopeless.  To see hearts and minds
healed.  It is even better to watch as
some enter the harvest as bold, faithful
witnesses of God's grace and mercy.

Joyful in His service together,

Has Hidden Emotional
Pain Left Open  Wounds
…Bleeding deep inside?

By Linda M Davis

I would like to dig deeper into this question.  Hopefully I can provide some insight into helping you recognize your hidden
 emotional pain; find those open
wounds and stop the bleeding.

Our Precious and Holy Lord was beaten and hung on the cross to die.  He had
nails driven in his hands; in both feet; and he had an open wounded bleeding
side.  He applied Love; Mercy and Forgiveness to his wounds.

In Luke 23:34 Jesus says: “Father forgive them; for they know not what
they do.”.
”  Those words stopped the bleeding and initiated healing for
all the land.

Emotional pain has the tendency to settle deep inside; leaving you with
open wounds.  These emotional wounds will continue to bleed until
they are exposed and treated.  Many times these

wounds are left unattended and bleeding for many years.  This can cause
irreparable damage to
your body, your heart, your mind, and your

relationships.  It will shatter and destroy every area of your life; if you do not face it and deal with it.

I would be a fool and a liar
if I said this healing process was easy.  Quite the contrary…Facing those open wounds is

extremely difficult and painful.  Just as Jesus suffered for you and I on the cross; we must endure the suffering through our pain, in order to begin
to heal.

Pain associated with emotions can disguise
itself in various forms such

as:  hurt, rejection, fear, failure, pride, bitterness
and anger.

We usually do our level
best to deny those wounds and pretend they do not

exist.  You can get away with denial for a period of time. Eventually, when you
are ready, God allows situations and people to enter your life; to help you
to face your giants and expose your hidden emotional pain.

What causes emotional pain; and how do we stop the bleeding from the wounds? I believe there are two major factors involved with any hidden emotions
..WORDS and DECISIONS!

Earlier I told you how Christ used words of Love and Forgiveness to initiate the
healing of all mankind.  The Bible tells us that “Life and Death is in the Power
of the Tongue.”  Simple explanation: Words can heal…Words can also destroy!

When a person is angry or hurt, critical words are spoken in haste.  After the
words have been spoken, the damage is done.  Those seeds of destruction are
planted deep inside; festering until they develop into open wounds. The only
healing salve to apply to these wounds is Forgiveness and Love.  It could be a loved one, a friend or an enemy that
planted the seeds.  Much of the time it is ourselves that we need to love and
forgive. Only then will we begin to heal our hidden emotional pain.

Decisions that we make, play a huge role…and have a major effect on our
emotions that cause us pain.

Philippians 4:8 says: “Finally,
brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever
things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if
there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy…meditate on these things.”
When we make decisions based on
the Word; it will ultimately turn out for our good.

On the other hand…When we make decisions based on our emotions, due to confusion, (the enemy is the author of confusion) and the pressures of life, it usually results in disaster and pain.

This Faith proclamation has helped me through many temptations.

Psalms 19:14: “Let the words of my mouth
and the meditations of my heart… be acceptable and pleasing in thy sight.
My Lord! My Rock! and My Redeemer!”

Refuse to allow hidden emotional pain to
destroy your life!

Does God Mean What He Says?

I don't know about you, but even though
I know better, in my natural fleshly
self, I tend to compartmentalize God. I
want to imagine that if I am pious in my
religious or devotional life, God will
be pleased and will look the other way
when it comes to my poor time management
and laziness during the rest of the day.
I want to believe that God knows and
cares about my past scars and my present
challenges and that He 'understands'
when I can't live up to the standards He
has set for me.

This is completely false. God does care
about my hurts, but He has given me His
Holy Spirit to empower me to live a
victorious life. I just taught yesterday
about the waters of the Jordan dividing
when the Israelites entered Canaan.
(Josh 3) The priests went before,
carrying the ark, and when their feet
actually touched the water, the river
was stopped upstream, and the dry
riverbank appeared. This is a beautiful
picture of how God expects us to live
our lives. It's impossible to follow His
directives. We don't have the desire, or
the ability, but at the moment we decide
to ignore our own limitations and trust
Him to see us through, and step out in
faith to start doing what He has asked
anyway, He takes control, and makes the
impossible possible.

Since He has given us this amazing
source of constant help, He really does
expect us to do as He has asked. We
don't see the help until we have started
to obey, but if we see the situation as
impossible and refuse to try, we will be
judged on 2 counts. First because we
failed to follow His command, and
second, because we didn't trust Him to
come through with the needed power and
assistance.

God is real. He is not just a religious
idea. And He is dead serious both when
He gives us direction, and when He
empowers us to obey with the "exceeding
greatness of his power to us-ward who
believe, according to the working of his
mighty power, Which he wrought in
Christ, when he raised him from the
dead, and set [him] at his own right
hand in the heavenly [places]." (Eph
1:19,20)

May we commit ourselves to obey Him
fully, regardless of how impossible His
directives may seem.

Are You Being Recycled?

A friend of mine started
a business
that recycled wood.  That is, he would buy old barns, beams and
rafters out of old textile mills, and old wood out of other buildings, and craft it into lots of wonderful, one-of-a-kind products.

For
instance, wood flooring and paneling, and he even made furniture out of
this
old wood.

Now you and I drive right
by some of
these places where he got his wood.

Old barns out in the country, barns
that are falling down.  Dilapidated factories that companies abandoned
long ago.  Sure, they were handsome in their day, but now they’re just old.

But my friend sees beauty in these old buildings.  He sees woods that aren’t grown anymore that have
distinctive
characteristics; wood that’s turned
silver-gray as it aged.

We’re a lot like that,
you and me.

Only it's on the inside that the beauty
grows with you. Sure you turn silver gray and lean a little, but it’s inside where your true beauty recycles.  As you
listen to life and make a life, not just a living today, look inside and recycle the positive within you.

Sinner's Prayer

A simple prayer of faith is all you need to pray for Jesus to save you.

If in your heart you believe by faith
that Christ died for your sins on the cross, and that He arose, and He is a living Savior today, then that faith can save you.

Here is the prayer you must mean in your heart:

"Dear Jesus I need you to save me.
Please forgive me of my sins.
 Come  into my heart.  Amen

This is what happens when you pray that prayer and mean it.

1. Eternal life is yours.

2. Your sins are forgiven.

3.  Personal relationship
      with Jesus forever

4.  He will never leave you.

Why not ask Jesus to save
you today?

Don’t Miss Out

When troubles surround
you and your days
seem gray,

Your burdens are
too heavy, and you feel there’s no way.

If you feel there’s
not a soul who can understand how you feel,

And the pain you are
feeling is so very real.

When you feel you’ve
been a failure and you’ve
let others down,

And it’s so hard to smile,
so you just wear a frown.

The world will tell you to deal with it and just go on,

But God says you don’t
have to bear your
burdens alone.

He will never, ever leave you or forsake you
my friend,

No matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been.

God can truly turn your
gray skies to blue,

And you will feel the sun shining down on you.

Smiles will replace the sad frowns you once wore,

And you’ll experience
love like you’ve never known before.

Don’t miss out on
receiving your
great reward,

On the day we see the
Face of our Savior
and Lord.

Scripture of the Month

"The seventh time around, when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the army,
“Shout! For the LORD has given you the city!"
Joshua 6:16

"When the trumpets sounded, the army shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the men gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so everyone charged straight in, and they took the city."
Josua 6:20

The walls of Jericho fell down flat. Jericho represents the world to
the believer. It is strong, formidable, and foreboding.  To defeat the world
there must be faith.

All the Israelites did was walk around the walls.
Who did the fighting?
GOD!

God got the victory and Israel got the
possession.

If you want the
abundant life today,
you must depend
on God.

"Seek ye first the
kingdom of God..."

Tim Perry

WHY?

It seems lately, that
trouble and trials
seem to be around every corner.

I have
witnessed the pain endured by families who have lost loved ones and have been by the bedside of friends in the midst of disease and despair.

Personally, my

wife and I have endured
the pain of the
loss of an unborn child.

The natural first reaction and question is “Why?”.

I’d like to share a few
truths
that have
comforted me.

 First of all, I know
that God loves me.

I know that He has my

best interest at heart.

I know that before I

was even conceived,
that somehow He knew

each success I would
have, each failure
I
would endure, each
mistake I would
make
and every sin I would commit.

In
spite of that,
He still loved me.
I know
that I don’t
deserve Heaven
after I die.

God is perfect and
pure and I am a
sinner.

Being a just God, He demanded
justice and punishment, but
loving me as
He did, since someone had
to pay the
price,
He sent His son to die
on a Cross
in my place.

The penalty was paid and
because I accepted God’s free gift of His son, I am assured of Heaven.

My place in Heaven is
secure because of

Jesus, but while I am
here on earth,
problems
still come. With the security

of Heaven as a backdrop, let’s consider one of
God’s promises.

Romans 8:28
states
“And we know that God causes everything to
work together for the
good of those who love
God and are called according to His purpose
for them.”
(NLT)

No matter what trial
comes our
way, none of
our problems could occur

without God’s permission.

Although the
devil may intend for certain
circumstances to do us
harm and cause
pain,
God will somehow
use every
situation for
His ultimate good.

Usually our closest times with God are when we
are in the midst of a
 tremendous
burden,
trial or tribulation.

God uses
trials to bring
us closer to Him.

God
could have kept
Daniel out of the lion’s

den, could have kept
Joseph out of jail
or a myriad of other historical examples, but God used them to strengthen the character of His children
for even greater service later in life.

God also specializes in turning good out of the worst that Satan can
throw at us.

The ultimate example
was the travesty
that occurred to God’s son
on the cross.

Satan thought he had
won the victory,
but God turned that worst day in
the
history of the human race, into the shining culmination of His plan of love and redemption.

When adverse circumstances, trials,
sickness, injustice and
other situations
get you down, remember a phrase that Corrie ten Boom,
who suffered in a Nazi
concentration camp made famous: “If you look at the world, you’ll be distressed.
If you look within, you’ll be depressed.

But if you look at Christ, you’ll be at rest!!” If you focus on your illness,
your situation, life’s problems, the world situation, or if you let
those
types of issues take prominence in your life,
you will never be at peace.

If
instead, through these trials, you finally turn wholeheartedly to God,
get
in His word the Bible
and get close to
Him in prayer, you will slowly notice that God did ultimately use that
adverse
situation for
good in at least
one
respect.

You are closer to Him, which
produces more
peace and ultimately
more
contentment
in your life.

Sometimes God
may not always answer in the
way that we
desire.

God knows the big picture.

We
don’t.

He can see years down
 the road
where we can only see today.

From His
perspective,
not granting healing on

earth of a loved one is
the greatest
gift He
could offer. Although it
is very
painful to us,
God truly delivers the

ultimate healing when
a loved one is
taken
to be with Him.

Who better to look
after
our loved one than our Heavenly
Father?

What better place to
be than
Heaven?
