"And He led them out as far as Bethany,
and He lifted up His hands and blessed
them. Now it came to pass, while He
blessed them, that He was parted from
them and carried up into heaven. And
they worshiped Him, and returned to
Jerusalem with great joy, and were
continually in the temple praising
and blessing God. Amen".
Luke 24:50-53 (NKJV)
Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ,
The suffering of the passion is behind
us, as is the crucifixion, burial and
resurrection. In the context in which
we celebrate it, the Ascension has
passed as well.
The final condition of the Disciples
finds them in the temple rejoicing
--praising and blessing God.
Last month I shared the story of a young
lady who was in our program several
years ago. She is suffering from a
life-threatening infection that was
contracted, in a hospital, while having
minor surgery. It was written from an
anguished mother. It was sort of
everything short of the Ascension, as
far as a human can endure. In light of
my article, the mom corresponded again:
Emilie and I were on our way to see a
specialist a few days ago and had in our
hands a bundle of medical records from
various physicians she has seen. One
common denominator in all of the
narrations from the many doctors was the
first line which states something like
this, "Emilie, a 21 year old female with
a history of severe depression, suicide
attempts and cutting, presented in my
office with... Emilie said, "I refuse to
accept those words as a description of
who I am. That is who I WAS, but I have
been made new and whole and I am no
longer that person...I am restored
and healed!"
As I drove the car and she spoke, I
could feel the tears well up in my heart
because she was sitting next to me with
dark glasses (because of severe
photo phobia) and her walker tucked under
the dashboard (because she is unable to
take even one step without the walker).
I don't know how to explain what I
felt...she sees herself as healed so
much that even with the physical
ailments that are consuming her body all
day and night, she has been made SO new
in Christ that these things seem almost
like a slight inconvenience instead of a
major disability. My daughter has taught
me to have eyes to see even through the
overwhelming tears. "Because" she said,
"sometimes you have to become blind
first before you can see."
Thank you for nourishing my daughter
with the Word SO MUCH that when the
physical well ran dry, she still was not
thirsting for anything else!
This girl has seen the risen, ascended
Lord in her own heart. Emilie has
discovered that she "is a soul," rather
than "having a soul." I hear her soul
speaking truth by faith. These are the
circumstances in life that can, and do,
give rise to doubts and even bitterness.
She has grasped on to precious promises
that offer her frail body a faith to
fuse with her professional health
program. Recent secular studies insist
that trusting in someone greater than
ourselves and believing in the
possibility of "divine healing" ups our
chances of survival.
Even those whose objects of faith are
bogus, still benefit from the positive
mindset--temporarily. But Emilie's hope
has ascended with Christ and impacts her
eternal well-being, even as she remains
a powerful testimony here.
It is a privilege to be a part of a
community that ministers to the broken
and hopeless. To see hearts and minds
healed. It is even better to watch as
some enter the harvest as bold, faithful
witnesses of God's grace and mercy.

Has Hidden Emotional
Pain Left Open Wounds
…Bleeding deep inside?
By Linda
M Davis
I would
like to dig deeper into this question. Hopefully I can
provide some insight into helping you recognize your hidden
emotional
pain; find those open
wounds and stop the bleeding.
Our
Precious and Holy Lord was beaten and hung on the cross to
die. He had
nails
driven in his hands; in both feet; and he had an open wounded bleeding
side.
He applied Love; Mercy and Forgiveness to his wounds.
In Luke
23:34 Jesus says: “Father
forgive them; for they know not what
they do.”.”
Those words stopped the bleeding and initiated healing for
all the land.
Emotional
pain has the tendency to settle deep inside; leaving you with
open
wounds. These emotional wounds will continue to bleed until
they are exposed and treated. Many times these
wounds
are left unattended and bleeding for many years. This can
cause
irreparable
damage to
your body, your heart, your mind, and your
relationships.
It will shatter and destroy every area of your life; if you do not face
it and deal with it.
I would
be a fool and a liar
if I said this healing process was easy. Quite the
contrary…Facing those open wounds is
extremely
difficult and painful. Just as Jesus suffered for you and I
on the cross; we must endure the suffering through our pain, in order
to begin
to heal.
Pain
associated with emotions can disguise
itself in various forms such
as:
hurt, rejection, fear, failure, pride, bitterness
and anger.
We
usually do our level
best to deny those wounds and pretend they do not
exist.
You can get away with denial for a period of time. Eventually, when you
are
ready, God allows situations and people to enter your life; to help you
to face
your giants and expose your hidden emotional pain.
What
causes emotional pain; and how do we stop the bleeding from the wounds?
I believe there are two major factors involved with
any hidden emotions
..WORDS and DECISIONS!
Earlier
I told you how Christ used words of Love and Forgiveness to initiate the
healing
of all mankind. The Bible tells us that “Life and
Death is in the Power
of the
Tongue.” Simple explanation: Words can
heal…Words can also destroy!
When a
person is angry or hurt, critical words are spoken in haste.
After the
words
have been spoken, the damage is done. Those seeds of
destruction are
planted
deep inside; festering until they develop into open wounds. The only
healing
salve to apply to these wounds is Forgiveness and Love. It
could be a loved one, a friend or an enemy that
planted
the seeds. Much of the time it is ourselves that we need to
love and
forgive.
Only then will we begin to heal our hidden emotional pain.
Decisions
that we make, play a huge role…and have a major effect on our
emotions
that cause us pain.
Philippians
4:8 says: “Finally,
brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever
things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely,
whatever things are of good report, if
there is any virtue and if there is anything
praiseworthy…meditate on these things.” When we
make decisions based on
the
Word; it will ultimately turn out for our good.
On the
other hand…When we make decisions based on our emotions, due
to confusion, (the enemy is the author of confusion) and the pressures
of life, it usually results in disaster and pain.
This
Faith proclamation has helped me through many temptations.
Psalms
19:14: “Let
the words of my mouth
and the meditations of my heart… be acceptable and pleasing
in thy sight.
My Lord! My Rock! and My Redeemer!”
Refuse
to allow hidden emotional pain to
destroy
your life!

Does God Mean What He Says?
I don't know about you, but even though
I know better, in my natural fleshly
self, I tend to compartmentalize God. I
want to imagine that if I am pious in my
religious or devotional life, God will
be pleased and will look the other way
when it comes to my poor time management
and laziness during the rest of the day.
I want to believe that God knows and
cares about my past scars and my present
challenges and that He 'understands'
when I can't live up to the standards He
has set for me.
This is completely false. God does care
about my hurts, but He has given me His
Holy Spirit to empower me to live a
victorious life. I just taught yesterday
about the waters of the Jordan dividing
when the Israelites entered Canaan.
(Josh 3) The priests went before,
carrying the ark, and when their feet
actually touched the water, the river
was stopped upstream, and the dry
riverbank appeared. This is a beautiful
picture of how God expects us to live
our lives. It's impossible to follow His
directives. We don't have the desire, or
the ability, but at the moment we decide
to ignore our own limitations and trust
Him to see us through, and step out in
faith to start doing what He has asked
anyway, He takes control, and makes the
impossible possible.
Since He has given us this amazing
source of constant help, He really does
expect us to do as He has asked. We
don't see the help until we have started
to obey, but if we see the situation as
impossible and refuse to try, we will be
judged on 2 counts. First because we
failed to follow His command, and
second, because we didn't trust Him to
come through with the needed power and
assistance.
God is real. He is not just a religious
idea. And He is dead serious both when
He gives us direction, and when He
empowers us to obey with the
"exceeding
greatness of his power to us-ward who
believe, according to the working of his
mighty power, Which he wrought in
Christ, when he raised him from the
dead, and set [him] at his own right
hand in the heavenly [places]." (Eph
1:19,20)
May we commit ourselves to obey Him
fully, regardless of how impossible His
directives may seem.
